How to remove or reset Asus laptop bios password
Now take a note of that date and go to biosbug.com and enter it to search field and there you go.
This is very simple way to remove or reset Asus laptop bios password. To be honest personally only needed to reset bios password few times and was not matter of being forgotten just bought laptop with bios password installed and had to remove and every time had to spend hours to find site where to get the code to unlock bios.
There's loads of sites where you can get the codes for reset but most of them have codes only for some rescue dates.. 2008-06-06 etc., that means you would have to set your windows date to date given and then enter to bios reset.
Most of my cases there was no hard drive installed plus it was user bios password so i would not have access to windows anyway. Yes you could remove bios battery for few minutes and that would reset bios date to very beginning.. something like 2002-01-02 etc., but that means opening laptop and spending more time.
How to remove Asus laptop bios password easy way!
- Boot while while pressing/holding F2 to get into the BIOS / UEFI
- When the enter password window appears then press Alt + r or Alt Gr +r
- "Enter rescue password" window will appear, with YYYY-MM-DD
- Now take a note of that date and go to www.biosbug.com and enter it to search field and there you go. Only thing to remember is to enter it to your laptop as it reads.
NOTE! Alt+R or even AltGr+R not working! On some of the newer Asus laptops seems to be issue where ALT + R is not working and there's no rescue password available... This is known problem with new Asus bios updates and currently solution is absent, have been struggling with this issue here myself for some time and still no solution! If You have found fix for that issue then let us know so we could share!!!

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire One D270 model. I went through the process and pressed enter 3 times. However, after the 3rd time, the system prompt only gives one option "System will halt" and on clicking, am returned to system prompt on a blank screen. There is no 2nd prompt "Enter Unlock Password". I then tried the ALT+R and ALTGr+R method and it failed. I want to upgrade to an SSD but am unable to install the OS from the USB drive. Any chance that you have found the solution. Await your speedy response. Tq

What to do when my laptops Manufacturers date is only the year and month, no day
ToxicNerd
what model/make is your laptop?

I tried the BIOS bugg with the year and month and then with a try with every day of the month, the ALT + R or ALT GR + R doesn't work so I don't think it's going to work no matter what Biosbugg spits out.

I have a ASUS ASUS GX551Q - It will not give me any boot options, only Password upon starting up. I did everything suggested, nothing works. Contacted ASUS and they said "send it in for $85 USD to get it diagnosed, there will be an extra charge for the repair." As far as I can see, the password bar can accept up to 20 characters. If this helps let me know.
