Acer TravelMate P215 DDR4 RAM and NVMe SSD Upgrade options

Is it possible to install additional DDR4 Memory and swap solid state drive on my Acer TravelMate P215-52?

Looking to upgrade your Acer TravelMate P215-52 and wondering what you actually can upgrade? Good news with this laptop is that both DDR4 RAM and NVMe M.2 SSD can be upgraded, also good news is that this machine has 2 RAM slots, that means that we will be able to install 32GB of ram(16GB x 2). Yes, that’s correct this Acer TravelMate P215 does support 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

CPU upgrade on this laptop is not possible, processor is soldered to the motherboard and that’s common with nearly all new laptops. We just have to be happy that we are able to upgrade Solid State Drive and Random Access Memory.

How to open Acer Travelmate P215-52

To open your Acer Travelmate you will need standard phillips screwdriver and bit of time and patience..

Step 1: remove all the screws on the back panel, see image below:

When screws are removed then you can lift back panel, use something made out of plastic, do not use sharp metal objects just so you would not damage laptop, back cover comes off easy so should not take you more then a minute.

As mentioned earlier, i will install 32GB RAM and 1TB Samsung solid state drive on this laptop. Before upgrade there was only 8GB of ram and 512GB SSD fitted.

See image below of the location of SSD and DDR4 RAM slots:

Image below of the new RAM to be fitted, it will be bit lower speed but that’s the modules i had. There will be two of them installed and total usable memory will be 32GB.

And finally we are ready to swap M.2 NVMe SSD, this time i’m using Samsung 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus solid state drive, they are good and fast drives and very reasonably priced.

Operating system needs to be reinstalled after SSD upgrade. RAM upgrade does not require OS reinstallation.
